A fragrant delight, essential oils in your bath evaporate in the steam and leave a wonderful scent on your skin afterwards. Especially relaxing at bed-time!
Use 5-10 drops total of essential oil per bath. For hot or spicy oils, like eucalyptus or peppermint, use the lower number.
Disperse the oils before getting into the bath. Most essential oils form droplets which could irritate your skin (or delicate areas!) if not dispersed. Some ways to do this:
HONEY: Moisturizing to your skin, blend your drops of oil into a teaspoon of honey and add to your bath water.
VEGETABLE OIL: For silky-soft skin, blend your drops of oil into a teaspoon of vegetable oil (your choice) and add to your bath water. Be careful not to slip on any oil residue that remains in your tub, better to clean up afterwards.
SALTS: For a muscle-relaxing bath, blend your drops of oil into 1/4 cup of salts. We like to recommend half sea salt and half epsom salts. A little baking soda will help cut the drying effects of salts on your skin.
BATH GEL: Commercially prepared unscented bubble bath and shower gels are available in some health food and drug stores. Add your drops of oil to 1 ounce of gel and add to running water.
